Topo Pink

My Thanksgiving Open Studio was coming up, along with a local artisan fair. And it was a rainy day. And you can never have too many earrings for holiday sales. So I decided to play in my studio with some translucent clay, along with berry-colored acrylic paint, white alcohol ink, mica powder, and foil leaf. The unbaked clay was unremarkable (you never know how translucent clay will look when it’s baked). But what came out of the oven was a nice surprise, and after sanding, buffing, and applying resin, the finished beads are splendid — glimmery pink with a pop of metallic fuchsia. The bead patterns remind me of a topo map, and so right there, my new collection had a name. With just six pairs of earrings and one sweet necklace, this collection may be gone before you blink.
